The goat difference
This post is brought to you by Nuffnang and Oli6 Dairy Goat Milk Formula
Last week I attended the launch of the new Oli6 Dairy Goat Milk Formula range and I had my eyes well and truly opened. The breast is best message is one that we are all aware of, and as a mother who exclusively breastfed her child, one I fully support. But for mothers who can’t breastfeed for whatever reason, they just want the best for their child. And for mothers who have moved past breastfeeding and have toddlers with further nutritional needs or gut issues, the issue is the same. But a lack of information about formula feeding and toddler milk still persists.
According to Galaxy research commissioned by Goat Nutrition Australia, 84% of children aged 13-24 months have experienced some form of digestive problem and yet 52% of mums are finding it difficult to source information about toddler milk and improving digestive health. This is putting strain on parents and adding to the stress of parenting, as if we need anymore of that.
Oli6 is a new to market range of formulas to help parents looking for an optimum solution for their children. Manufactured in Australia, by locally owned Goat Nutrition Australia, Oli6 uses dairy goat milk rather than cow milk. Great, you say, but what does that mean for my child?
Basically (and we are talking very basic here) there is a lot of science behind this. The oligosaccharides (oligos for short) found in goat’s milk, are structurally closer to breast milk than cow’s milk and also occur in higher concentrations (up to 6 times higher) than cow’s milk. Oligos are naturally occurring prebiotics that help to develop good gut health. While the oligos found in breast milk cannot be synthesised, those found in goat’s milk have been found to be similar to those in human milk and according to Professor Harsharn Gill of RMIT University, are likely to provide similar health benefits in infants.
Additionally, goat’s milk is naturally high in vitamins and minerals with 46% more vitamin A, 33% more magnesium, 37% more vitamin C and 10% more calcium than cow’s milk. With a high percentage of goat milk solids used to produce Oli6 and minimal processing used, that is a lot more of the good stuff getting into kids bellies!
As parents, all we want is the best for our kids. This starts from the moment we learn we are pregnant and our food and lifestyle changes adapt to nurture the new life growing inside of us. As they enter the world, into our care, that nurturing only intensifies as we look to make the very best decisions we can for our child. Whether you are an expectant parent-to-be or an experienced mum of many, it is comforting to know that there are products on the market, like Oli6, that have been developed with the best for our kids in mind.
Oli6 is available in selected pharmacies across Australia and online at www.oli6.com.au for RRP $37.95. There are three stages in the range for children 0-3 years of age: Oli6 Dairy Goat Infant Formula – Stage 1 – From birth to 6 months; Oli6 Dairy Goat Follow On Formula – Stage 2 – 6 – 12 months; Oli6 Dairy Goat Toddler Formula – Stage 3 – 12 – 36 months.
