In the last decade there has been a revolution happening in kids bedrooms. No longer the realm of daggy doona covers and oversized cartoon posters, kids interiors are now colourful, chic and fun. And it is brands like Incy Interiors that are leading the charge in this bedroom makeover.

Incy Interiors sprang from the frustration of founder, Kristy Withers, at not being able to find the right “big boy bed” for her son, Oscar. Kristy jumped on this opportunity to create Incy Interiors and the most divine range of quality designer kids furniture.

For Kristy, kids interiors are a true passion and calling. “I honestly love everything about the industry. I especially love working with the other companies in the industry whether that be through collaborations, customer rooms, events or even selling their products in our stores. I also love that a child’s room really is their own little place in the home and you can take risks with the room. There is nothing more rewarding then receiving pics of customers rooms and seeing how they use our products,” she says.

The Incy Interiors range has grown to include beds, cots, storage, chairs, side tables and bookcases. The range is luxurious with velvet and metallics in classic designs to compliment any style. For Kristy, luxe is her favourite trend of the moment; “The trend in general, not just in a child’s room that excites me right now is the move towards luxe interiors. This includes the use of rose gold furniture, luxury textures such as velvet and linen in beautiful muted colours.”

And as for this busy working supermum, how does she balance it all? Thriving business, family life, looking after herself? “Like everyone some days I do really well and then others aren’t so successful. I am lucky that my children are both at school so that definitely helps but I am comfortable with the fact that I am not super human and I cannot do everything. The best thing I do to get some balance is to divide my time. From 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday I am dedicated to Incy, outside of that time I am dedicated to my family. I do actively try to make time everyday to exercise and that is what I do for myself, it helps clear my head, reduce stress and allows me to focus.”

Incy Interiors will be exhibiting at Kids Instyle Sydney 2017, Australia’s dedicated trade event for designer kids and baby brands.
