Before having a baby I seriously underestimated how much I would love breastfeeding. In my head I had it all planned out that I would breastfeed but would also regularly express so that my husband could take on some of the feeding responsibilities. Baby came along and I didn’t want to share. I loved the bonding that came with breastfeeding and I couldn’t imagine not feeding her that way. I understand that I am one of the fortunate ones and that breastfeeding doesn’t come that easily to everyone.

It took me a couple of weeks to even take the Miomee® breast pump out of the box. I was a bit daunted at the prospect of firstly using the pump and secondly how I would feel about giving my baby a bottle. After we got over the initial jokes of milking a cow (I think any mum who has expressed would have been through this) I set about assembling and using the device. I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. The silicone suction cup is really gentle so it was quite comfortable, contrary to my fears. The motor unit is to easy to use and has adjustable settings so the suction and speed can be adjusted based on personal preference.

At first I found holding the bottle while expressing a bit awkward but now I put a pillow on my lap and with my arm resting on that. I watch TV, read or catch up on some of my favourite blogs while the pump is doing its thing and enjoy the time to relax by myself. The pump also comes with a convenient accessories bag to pack away the motor after each use. Great for travel or just storing neatly in the cupboard at home.

The Tommee Tippee® Miomee® Single Electric Breast Pump is available for $249.95 from the Miomee website.
